MORE ABOUT GFORCE TELECOMS

A Story of Resilience and Growth

In 2015, Ginty Foster founded GForce Telecomms Ltd (GFT) while working as a contractor—a bold move inspired by nearly two decades of experience in telecommunications and an understanding of the industry’s evolving landscape. Following a successful career at Openreach, Foster embraced the opportunity of the new fibre rollout in Wales, transitioning into freelance work.

During the early years, Foster worked as both a consultant and a surveyor for major Tier 1 companies, including Carillion Telent, MJQuinn and Kelly Group, on the BT Openreach network. He specialised in designing fibre networks and leading teams towards meeting delivery targets.

In 2017, a defining moment came when Foster was asked to oversee a new BT Openreach contract—not just as a consultant but as a resource provider for carrying out the work. Rising to the challenge, Foster took a leap of faith, remortgaging his home and investing his savings to hire vehicles, purchase equipment, and bring together a team of trusted engineers from his professional network. This marked the start of GFT’s transformation from a solo venture into a thriving enterprise.

GFT soon established its first premises in Merthyr Tydfil, and its growth trajectory began. Foster built the company on a foundation of trusted relationships, surrounding himself with a core team of seasoned professionals. To this day, these senior personnel form the backbone of the company, bringing over 120 years of combined expertise.

Today, GFT is a respected small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) in South Wales, renowned for its local expertise, community engagement, and high-quality service. The company offers a comprehensive range of telecom and civil engineering solutions, including cabling, splicing, civils, poling, installation, and testing.

With its headquarters in Merthyr Tydfil and sub-depots in Bridgend, Narberth, and Swansea, GFT employs over 130 personnel. As a Tier 1 contractor for the fastest growing full fibre network operator Netomnia, YouFibre Broadband, Elevate and WeFibre. GFT has also previously enjoyed successful partnerships as a Tier 2 contractor for Openreach, MJQuinn, CityFibre, and OGI, contributing significantly to various telecommunications projects. Additionally, GFT collaborates with the local authority, Rhondda Cynon Taff Council, on a range of construction initiatives, further cementing its role as a trusted and versatile contractor in South Wales.
